What You'll Be Doing:

An Inside Equipment Sales Representative is the first point of contact for customers seeking solutions to their equipment needs. This role is ideal for an energetic, people-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a passion for building relationships. The successful candidate will proactively engage with walk-in customers while also developing a customer base from the ground up. Beyond the store, you’ll promote products and services in the market to help drive increased traffic and awareness.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent and sell products and/or services to walk-in, online, and phone customers.

  • Engage with customers to build rapport, understand their needs, and provide tailored solutions.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive attitude to ensure the highest satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to develop and execute strategic marketing and advertising plans.

  • Assist customers with on-site machine startup and training as needed.

  • Work as a team player, supporting all areas of the store as necessary.

  • Use strong organizational skills to ensure timely and effective follow-up with customers.

  • Apply outstanding communication skills and adapt style to fit the audience or situation.

  • Present financing options to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

  • Continuously expand knowledge of equipment features, benefits, and value.

  • Stay current with industry trends and updates to better serve customers.

 

Qualifications:

What's Required

Skills / Experience

  • High integrity and a highly motivated team player.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, stay organized, and operate under pressure.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done, including working weekends and extended hours as needed to maximize sales.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills to drive sales and achieve targets.
  • Ability to handle inbound and outbound sales calls and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Aptitude for learning product knowledge quickly and effectively explaining features and benefits to customers.
  • Capable of building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, order processing, and sales reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with marketing and operations to support promotions and customer engagement.

What's Preferred

  • 5+ years of sales experience preferred, with 3-5 years specifically in agriculture or the equine industry 
  • Understanding of John Deere (or equivalent) equipment, vehicles, and implements 

Compensation is competitive and based on skill level, proven experience, and knowledge.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and a telephone.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements (i.e., having the visual acuity to read words and numbers on the computer screen and on paper).
  • Hearing ability must be sufficient to communicate with others in person or over the phone.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, and bend as needed.
