Inpatient Medical Coder

Job Description

Loyal Source Government Services is looking for full-time Inpatient Medical Coders to provide remote services to the Puget Sound VA Health Care System.

Job Summary: Inpatient Medical Coders must be efficient, motivated, focuses on patient care with our Veteran population. Medical Coders are expected to maintain a high degree of accurate productivity and performance while working with our VA community at the Puget Sound VA Health Care System. Medical Coders are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals.

PAY: $42.86/hr

Duties:

• Review inpatient health record documentation and assign ICD diagnosis and procedure codes.s.
• Code inpatient episodes occurring in hospitals, nursing homes, domiciliary, observation settings, and non-VA facilities.
• Abstract inpatient diagnoses, procedures, and surgeries and enter coded information into the national encoder and EHR.
• Validate coding accuracy and data integrity
• Review documentation and providers' scope of practice to assign accurate codes
• Re-review records for billing edits, denials, retrospective reviews, unsupported codes, missing codes, or unbundled codes.
• Maintain a minimum coding accuracy rate of 95%.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding experience
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, and Disease Processes
• Knowledge in Health record format and content.
• Knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and coding conventions.
• Formal training in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and guidelines.
• Apply knowledge of diagnostic, procedure, professional, and surgical coding guidelines for inpatient services
• Active AHIMA or AAPC certification with completed ICD-10 training/proficiency requirements.
• Must have one of the following credentials:

American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

• RHIA
• RHIT
• CCS
• CCS-P

or

American Academy of Professional Coders

• CPC
• CPC-H
