Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining library/automated check-in/out system and inactive manual records to include their delivery to SCDC personnel.
  • Helps sort and place in numerical order all filing to be placed in an inmates central record.
  • Assists in the filing of all documents in inmates manual record.
  • Assists in the duplication of manual records pursuant to court subpoena or valid request from law enforcement agency or court official.
  • Helps generate criminal history reports as needed by querying the NCIC Criminal Database.
  • Assists in the annual records inventory.
  • Assists in the transportation and retrieval of central records on the Broad River Road Complex.
  • Assists in the retrieval of recidivist records upon their return to SCDC.
  • Helps in preparation of penitentiary packets (PENPACS) of former SCDC inmates for other states or jurisdictions.
  • Assists in the duplication of court documents, per the request of the Attorney Generals Office of inmates filing for PCR hearings.
  • Other duties required by supervisor.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in records management, information systems, or office administration.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years of clerical experience;

OR

  • A bachelors degree may be substituted for experience.

  • Must have experience in the use of a computer.
