JOB TITLE: Injection Molding Set-Up Technician FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Operations Manager LOCATION: Owasso, OK SET-UP TECHNICIAN SUMMARY The LIM Set-Up Technician, troubleshoots, sets up and/or tends to molds for Liquid Injection Molding (LIM) machines based on job traveler and production needs. Performs sample runs before releasing to the LIM operator. Inspects and cleans injection molds, cold runner systems and auxiliary equipment before and after production runs. Supports production startup and process validation activities ensuring quality and production requirements. SET-UP TECHNICIAN DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Set up all operations and functions for Liquid Injection Machines and supporting equipment.
- Reads job travelers to determine molding specifications and tooling instructions.
- Installs, aligns, secures molds, center plates and delivery systems using proper tools, calibration and lifting equipment.
- Inspects mold(s) for defects and cleanliness.
- Mounts, installs, aligns mold and/or other work pieces on to press manually or by using hoist.
- Secures molds and/or other work pieces using basic hand and/or power tools.
- Conducts tests, inspects mold to ensure mold is secure, and verifies part quality.
- Creates SOP’s and Work Instructions as needed.
- Applies LEAN Methodology, drives continual improvement of processes and product quality.
- Works closely with Engineering and Maintenance to improve tooling and equipment uptime.
- Trains others as needed.
SET-UP TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS - Experience in Plastics, Silicone or Rubber Molding is preferred.
- Strong Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience a must.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to record information in writing and to transfer data electronically.
- Experience with tooling, measuring equipment, and lifting devices.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasionally: reach above shoulder with both hands, lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Frequently: lift upward with both arms outstretched, count and calculate, communicate details. Constantly: stand; reach outward with both hands, handle/finger, wrist and elbow flexion, rotation and articulation. Other: Near point non-color vision, sense of touch, tolerance for temperature in a non-controlled environment.
