    You keep world-class eyewear in motion. As an Injection Mold Tooling Technician II at Oakley (part of EssilorLuxottica), your craft ensures our lenses and frames reach customers across the globe. In a fast-paced manufacturing environment powered by innovation, you’ll maintain, repair, and fine‑tune precision tooling that supports iconic brands such as Ray‑Ban, Oakley, Persol, and Oliver Peoples.

    What you’ll do

    • Interpret tooling drawings and follow detailed work instructions to the letter.
    • Safely disassemble and reassemble injection molds with accuracy and speed.
    • Clean molds and support Maintenance Technicians when additional hands are needed.
    • Plan your work against a schedule to meet deadlines and reduce bottlenecks.
    • Keep your bench and shared spaces orderly and audit‑ready.
    • Use precision metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore mics, and more) to verify components.
    • Help monitor and sustain an adequate inventory of mold components and consumables.
    • Drive down machine downtime through proactive maintenance and quick response.
    • Care for all shop tools and machines, including daily cleaning of tool room equipment.
    • Document activities and parts usage in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
    • Operate independently when given clear direction and priorities.
    • Collaborate with Process Engineers to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement improvements.
    • Support in‑press repairs on the production floor to minimize unplanned stops.
    • Grind critical details on a surface grinder holding +/- .0002.
    • Run a Bridgeport/lathe to within +/- .001 tolerances.
    • Apply knowledge of hot runner/manifold systems (e.g., Mold‑Master, Synventive).
    • Polish, bench, and fit details; spot new components as required.
    • Diagnose root causes and execute lasting repairs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What you bring

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 1–3 years hands‑on experience in a tool room focused on plastic injection mold repair or maintenance.
    • Team mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and ideas.
    • Working knowledge of mold/die components and their functions.
    • Ability to read tooling drawings and schematics.
    • Clear written and verbal communication.
    • Basic computer proficiency.
    • Curiosity and a drive to learn new technologies.
    • Skill in juggling multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Initiative and proactive problem solving.
    • Availability to work over 8 hours/day, plus some weekends and holidays as needed.

    Preferred

    • Toolmaking certificate in die cast or plastic injection molding.
    • 5–8 years of tool room experience in plastic injection mold repair/maintenance.
    • 3–5 years using hand‑operated tool room equipment.
    • SAP or other CMMS experience.
    • Prototype toolmaking experience.
    • Injection molding process experience.
    • Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification.
    • Trade school or college coursework.
    • Ownership of, or ability to obtain, essential hand tools for the role.

    Compensation & benefits
