Job Title: Operations Technology Manager
Reports To: Superintendent or Designee
Location: District
SALARY: $96,500.00
Position Summary: The Operations Technology Manager provides leadership and supervision for
the Technology Services Department and oversees all technology infrastructure, network systems,
and operational technology services for the district. This position maintains reliable and secure
network operations, telecommunications systems, server infrastructure, and end-user hardware. The
Operations Technology Manager works collaboratively with the Office of Curriculum and
Instruction to ensure seamless technology services across the district.
Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in network administration or IT infrastructure
management
- Experience in a K-12 public education environment
- Experience with E-Rate (Universal Service Fund) administration and compliance preferred
- Demonstrated experience with network designs, Windows Server/Active Directory,
virtualization technologies, VolP systems, and security camera systems
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Valid motor vehicle drivers license
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Department Leadership and Operational Support
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide professional development for all Technology Services
Department staff
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and work assignments across the department
- Establish and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standards
- Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and training of new Technology staff
- Represent the Technology Services Department at Cabinet meetings, Board of Education
meetings, and other administrative functions
Budget, Grants and Vendor Management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets in collaboration with the Office of
Curriculum and Instruction and the Finance Office
- Serve as the district's primary E-Rate Coordinator; preparing and submitting all required
applications and maintaining compliance documentation
- Research, identify, and pursue federal, state, and private grant opportunities to support
technology initiatives
- Prepare specifications, coordinate bidding for technology purchases, and manage vendor
relationships and service contracts
- Develop long-term technology replacement and upgrade plans
Network and Server Infrastructure
- Design, implement, and maintain the districts local area networks (LAN), wide area
network (WAN), and wireless network infrastructure
- Manage physical and virtual server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS,
DHCP, and backup/disaster recovery systems
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure optimal
uptime
- Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and
equipment inventories
Cybersecurity
- Develop and implement district cybersecurity policies and procedures
- Manage firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and content filtering
- Monitor security threats and respond to security incidents and ensure CIPA compliance
- Coordinate security awareness training and vulnerability assessments
Telecommunications and Internet Services
- Manage the districts IP phone system (VolP), including programming, voicemail, and
emergency communication integration
- Manage ISP relationships and ensure adequate bandwidth for district needs
- Plan and implement telecommunications upgrades and connectivity improvements
Hardware, Devices, and Security Systems
- Oversee procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of district hardware
including Chromebooks, laptops, interactive displays, and printer fleet
- Manage device imaging, MDM solutions, and accurate asset tracking
- Manage the districts security camera infrastructure, video management systems, and
coordinate with administration on camera-related requests
