This position serves as the primary technical liaison for manufacturing execution and shop floor management systems, ensuring seamless production operations across complex aerospace/defense manufacturing environments. The specialist is responsible for the day-to-day integrity, troubleshooting, and optimization of the MES - SAP SFM platforms, directly impacting production throughput, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Production Support & Operations: Provide real-time support for MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and SAP SFM (Shop Floor Manager) modules, performance, and data integrity during all production shifts.
• Complex Issue Resolution: Act as the focal point for escalating production anomalies, leveraging systematic troubleshooting methodologies to isolate root causes affecting shop floor workflows, material flow, resource allocation, and genealogy tracking.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead or participate in cross-functional RCA sessions for production downtime, quality deviations, system errors, and data discrepancies, documenting findings and corrective action plans in compliance with industry standards (AS9100, ITAR, etc.).
• System Configuration & Maintenance: Assist in system upgrades, patches, parameter changes, and workflow optimizations within MES/SAP SFM to align with evolving production requirements, engineering changes, and capacity plans.
• Data Integrity & Reporting: Ensure accurate capture of production transactions, labor reporting, material consumption, and traceability data; generate/validate daily/weekly operational reports for production management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with production supervisors, industrial engineers, quality assurance, IT, and platform teams to resolve system-enhanced process gaps, implement corrective actions, and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
User Training & Enablement: Provide guidance and end-user support to shop floor operators, leads, and engineers on MES/SAP SFM interfaces, ensuring adherence to standardized workflows and data entry protocols.
Technical Competencies
• Proven experience with MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Client Field Process, or Lockheed Martin–integrated variants) and SAP SFM/ERP modules.
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing data models, shop floor signaling, work order management, and material traceability.
• Proficiency in SQL, scripting (Python/VBA), and data visualization tools for diagnostics and reporting.
• Familiarity with integration frameworks (OPC-UA, REST APIs, MQTT) connecting MES to PLCs, ERP, and MOM systems.
• Understanding of aerospace/defense manufacturing constraints (ITAR, CMM, POAM) is a plus.
