    Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is offering internships/co-ops for Information Systems (IS) Governance team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to apply advanced academic concepts in risk, compliance, cybersecurity, and governance to a real-world enterprise environment. Opportunities are available during the academic/calendar year and summer months.

     

    The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a sophomore classification or above ONLY.

    Responsibilities:
    • Policy & Procedure Support: Assist in designing, developing, documenting, and implementing IS governance policies, procedures, and standards to align with organizational goals and legal/regulatory standards.
    • Process Documentation: Create and maintain detailed process documentation demonstrating adherence to the organization's chosen frameworks.
    • Process Improvement: Conduct continuous evaluations of IS processes to gain a detailed understanding of workflows and identify areas for operational improvement.
    • Controls & Tool Tracking: Document technical controls, translate qualitative policy requirements into clear actionable controls, and track them using IT Governance tools.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with IS and business stakeholders to ensure technical initiatives support broader business objectives.
    • Risk & Vendor Assessments: Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies for IS-related risks, and assist with vendor audits and tracking deliverables.
    • Training & Awareness: Create educational and awareness materials to help socialize IT governance, data literacy, and compliance topics across the organization.
    • Access & Security Controls: Help ensure robust security and access controls are active across both IS-managed and self-service environments.
    • AI Governance: Partner with the Director of IS Governance and team to establish, maintain, and monitor data policies, compliance guidelines, and guardrails specifically for AI and Machine Learning products.
    • Audit Collaboration: Work closely with auditors to provide necessary information, documentation, and support during active IS audits.
    • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze governance metrics to identify trends, generate performance reports, and assist in creating dashboards (experience with BI tools is a plus).
    • Framework Familiarity: Possess a foundational understanding of data privacy regulations and established IT Governance frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, or NIST.
    • Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to draft formal policies, structured technical documentation, and educational materials.

    Qualifications:
    • Be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college;
    • Pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk/Governance, IT Audit or a closely related field.  Completion of (or current enrollment in) advanced coursework covering IT risk, governance frameworks, information security, compliance, audit, networks, and system architecture.

    • Have a senior classification or above;
    • Be in good academic standing;
    • Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program (year-round interns);
    • Previous internship experience is preferred.
    • Strong analytical and computer skills.
