About the Department of Local Government Finance:
The Department of Local Government Finance is responsible for ensuring property tax assessment and local government budgeting are carried out in accordance with Indiana law. The Department is charged with publishing property tax assessment rules and annually reviewing and approving the tax rates and levies of every political subdivision in the state, including all counties, cities, towns, townships, school corporations, libraries, and other entities with tax levy authority.
Role Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing the Information Systems Division and developing the overall strategy for delivering digital operations for the DLGF. As an outcomes‑focused, strategic leader, this position will lead teams and work with DLGF leadership to ensure continued functionality of all DLGF software applications, ensure updates are made promptly to reflect new legislative requirements, and oversee all technology needs of the agency. The Director also represents DLGF interests in the Indiana Gateway web portal, a tool that collects and provides access to information about how public funds are budgeted and spent by Indiana's local units of government.
The IS Director will lead the department through a significant technology modernization effort, including defining the modernization vision, aligning it with organizational priorities, and overseeing successful implementation. Responsibilities include evaluating the current legacy system, identifying opportunities for improvement, integrating updated technologies, coordinating cross‑departmental stakeholders, and ensuring continuity of operations throughout the modernization process. The Director will manage project timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies; establish governance and communication frameworks; and guide staff through process changes, skill development, and new technology adoption. This function ensures the department's technology environment evolves effectively, securely, and sustainably to meet current and future operational needs.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

A degree is not required. However, at least 5+ years of experience in Computer Science or Information Technology applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
