Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Informatics/Compliance Nurse position is a specialized nursing position whose primary responsibility is to integrate nursing practice with information technology to optimize healthcare data, improve patient outcomes, and support clinical workflows. The individual in this role will ensure optimization and utilization of technology via the use of evidence-based practices, data collection and analysis, and assessment of facility and department needs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position reports directly to the Assistant Nursing Home Administrator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION

Collaborates with and obtains feedback from facility staff to improve workflow, optimize utilization, and improve nursing services.

Responsible for troubleshooting Electronic Medical Records, assignment of users, and completion of audits.

Evaluates necessary changes in nursing clinical practice. Provides support to nursing staff for relevant technologies through regular clinical rounds.

Collaborates with others to ensure quality measures, as well as State and Federal regulations, are followed. Completes audits as requested.

Reviews admissions, re-admissions, and discharges to ensure all documentation is complete. This includes assessments, referrals, orders, tasks, Care Plans, notifications, etc.

Develops and delivers educational programs for staff.

Provides troubleshooting and acts as a primary point of contact for technology related issues.

Collects, manages, and interprets resident and clinical data to support quality improvement, research, and operational reporting.

Participates in policy development, review, and education by incorporating evidenced-based practices as well as identifying, collecting, and analyzing data.

Demonstrates independent action and team building abilities along with timely and successful resolutions to operation problems identified.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; AND

At least one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in a long-term care environment; AND

Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; AND

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

All employees of Gracedale Nursing Home will be required to attend Feeding Program training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing principles, Federal and State licensure regulations.

Proficiency with EHR systems, clinical software, data analytics and IT troubleshooting.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical, nursing and administrative staff, and representatives from regulatory agencies.

Ability to monitor residents' records, maintain relevant documentation, and issue required reports and notifications.

Ability to operate a computer and secure information from established data processing, spreadsheet, word processing, database, and graphics programs.

Ability to conduct oneself in a respectful and professional manner at all times.

Ability to follow all facility and County policies at all times.

Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English to perform the duties of this position.

I. Medical Insurance

Coverage begins for the employee the first of the month following full-time employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Cost to the employee to participate in the plans varies by the coverage selection and number of dependents; and may be subject to collective bargaining, if a union member. The employee may also elect to opt out of the Countys medical insurance if proof of coverage through the spouses employer is provided. Under this arrangement, the employee is provided with an annual $1,500.00 opt out payment.

II. Vision and Prescription

Coverage begins for the employee the first of the month following full-time employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Copayments may vary, subject to collective bargaining, if a union member. Coverage under the vision plan varies and depends upon the employees choice of doctor and frame selection.

III. Dental Coverage

Coverage begins for the employee the first of the month following full-time employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Copayments may vary, subject to collective bargaining, if a union member.

IV. Life Insurance

A life insurance policy is afforded to full-time employees beginning on the first day of employment, unless specified differently in a collective bargaining agreement. It remains in effect as long as the employee is actively employed and terminates upon resignation or retirement. $20,000 is afforded to all eligible employees.

V. Retirement

All full-time employees and part-time employees working more than 1000 hours per year qualify for County of Northampton retirement benefits, in which employees must contribute 5% of their earnings, and employees may choose to add additional voluntary contributions, not to exceed an additional 10%. Additionally, employees may participate in an optional deferred compensation plan [457(b)] which may provide present tax advantages and future retirement savings. Such arrangements are made directly with the providers and the County will administer payroll deductions only.
