Job: Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE)
Location: Melbourne, FL (100% Onsite)
Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule (80 hours over 9 days with every other Friday off)
Salary: $90K –$95K (Based on Experience)


Job Overview
  • Client is seeking experienced Information Security Systems Engineers (ISSEs) to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure information systems in Melbourne, FL.
  • The selected candidates will apply cybersecurity engineering principles throughout the system lifecycle, ensuring compliance with DoD security standards while supporting Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities under the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain FAA Public Trust Suitability

Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering, operational, and lifecycle activities for enterprise network security systems and managed infrastructure
  • Assist with configuration management, baseline maintenance, and system testing activities to support compliance and operational readiness
  • Conduct and analyze network packet captures, device logs, and system logs to support troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for network security systems and services
  • Support the implementation, operation, and maintenance of technologies such as:
    • Firewalls
    • Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
    • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
    • Load Balancers
    • API Gateways
    • VPN and related network security services
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of technical documentation such as requirements, interface documents, CONOPs, engineering procedures, and system updates
  • Support compliance efforts aligned to customer-tailored NIST and related federal security requirements
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customer stakeholders to communicate technical findings, support issue resolution, and maintain system documentation

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
  • OR a graduate degree in a related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience;or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience
  • At least 1 year of experience with enterprise networking fundamentals, including a strong understanding of TCP/IP communications, the OSI model, and enterprise data flow concepts
  • At least 1 year of experience troubleshooting network or security-related issues in enterprise, lab, academic, military, or customer environments, including the use of technical analysis and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve system or network issues
  • Experience following standard engineering, configuration management, or change management practices

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, load balancers, API gateways, routers, switches, and VPN solutions
  • Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, or other federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks
  • Experience reviewing packet captures, device logs, system logs, and event data to support troubleshooting or root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms and event monitoring concepts
  • Experience using Linux and/or Windows command-line tools
  • Prior experience supporting federal telecommunications, network security, or regulated environments
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or associate-level vendor certifications
