    INFECTION PREVENTION COORDINATOR

    Full-Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period

    The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for surveillance, prevention, and control of infections that could be transmitted in a healthcare setting as well as the prevention or minimization of the risk of occupational exposure to staff and physicians within their respective Business Unit(s). The Infection Prevention Coordinator recommends and administers comprehensive infection prevention and control policies and procedures and monitors the environment for potential risks. The Infection Prevention Coordinator collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure infection prevention and control policies and procedures are compliant with regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards. The Infection Prevention Coordinator collects, aggregates, and analyzes data related to all aspects of infection prevention to afford opportunities to improve clinical care and patient safety. The Infection Prevention Coordinator prepares and communicates reports detailing findings and submits them to appropriate leadership.

    Experience/Qualifications

    • Bachelor''s degree required in nursing or allied health field.
    • CIC certification at time of hire or attestation to obtain within 3-years of hire.
    • Minimum three years'' experience in an acute care hospital or public health setting.
    • Previous experience in infection prevention and control is beneficial.
    • If a registered nurse possesses an active Wisconsin or Michigan RN license.
    • If allied health professional possesses appropriate accreditation (i.e., ASCP).
    • Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, teach, coach, and advise.
    • Demonstrates ability to adapt to a climate of rapid change.
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of regulatory agencies specific to healthcare operations (i.e., Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, and FDA) and risk management principles.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; databases; and electronic health records.
    • Possesses a knowledge of performance improvement and change management principles and methods.
