Description

Position Summary

The Industrial Systems Integration Specialist will lead the configuration, integration, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of DL’s platform, Enterprise to Field Systems (EFS) and connected field devices.

The successful candidate should have experience with some or all of the below:

  • Windows server installation/configuration
  • Networking and telecommunications, including TCP/IP
  • MS SQL and database concepts
  • MS Excel
  • Basic Linux OS
  • Understand how various software components work together to communicate with field devices
  • Understanding/background with field devices such as meters, PLC, relays, pumps, and other devices.
  • understanding of industrial protocols – DNP3, Modbus, BACnet, other.
  • Assist with system integration and support customers throughout project delivery and operation.

This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary role. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across networking, telecommunications, industrial communications, software configuration, device connectivity, and technical customer support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn the EFS platform to be able to troubleshoot and configure the platform and field devices.
  • Document system configurations, device settings, network information, technical procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Support and manage key clients:
  • keep track and complete multiple tasks concurrently
  • Organize incoming tasks and information so they are readily available
  • Check on the client system routinely to ensure all are working properly
  • Visit client site to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and device issues
  • Convey all communications and issues from client perspective to DL team
  • Self-motivate and responsible for fulfilling contact terms [ex. Walk through, communicate with all stakeholders, change management process, client system updates/upgrades]
  • Produce ideas to improve client experience and delivery and implement
  • Project Lead/Support:
  • Lead/support various client projects, including submittal packages and diagrams
  • Visit client sites to gather technical information as part of new projects
  • Attend onsite and Teams meetings for various projects, update project information and ensure deadlines are met
  • Project technical implementation
  • Convey all communications and issues from client perspective to DL team
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical processes, documentation, tools, and customer solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical engineering technology, computer science, information technology, networking, telecommunications, industrial automation, controls, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with servers and networking and PLC or other field equipment configurations and installation
    • In lieu of the above, need to demonstrate ability to be successful working and troubleshooting in an environment with Windows servers, networking, telecom, OT devices, and protocols
  • MS Excel intermediate level 
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and diagrams or familiarity with other engineering equipment or diagrams
  • File/data/information organization skills

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is preferred but not required:

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, IEC protocols, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with SCADA, HMI, industrial automation, or operational technology systems.
  • Experience programming, configuring, commissioning, or troubleshooting PLCs.
  • Experience integrating meters, protective relays, remote terminal units, controllers, sensors, or other field devices.
  • Experience creating network diagrams, electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, or system architecture drawings.
  • Experience using Python for automation, data processing, testing, integration, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with Linux-based systems or embedded computing devices.
  • Experience with industrial networking, telecommunications, serial communications, or remote device connectivity.
  • Experience supporting utility, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles for industrial or operational technology systems.
  • Learn and apply new technologies, communication protocols, devices, and system configurations as customer and project requirements evolve.

  • Diagnose and resolve common networking, protocol, configuration, and data-collection issues.
  • Develop working knowledge of DL’s software, hardware, architecture, and deployment processes.
  • Create accurate technical documentation and system diagrams.
  • Collaborate effectively with customers and equipment vendors.
  • Contribute to successful system deployments, testing, commissioning, and technical support.
