Industrial Saw Operator

Maintain the saws, including, but not limited to, replacing blades on the various saws using hand tools, monitoring coolant/oil levels and adding/replacing as needed, and general cleaning. Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures as indicated by scale, rule or template to secure and direct the workpiece using hand tools and measuring devices.

Industrial Saw Operator
We are currently seeking candidates with experience operating industrial saws in a manufacturing environment for a Saw Operator position with a well-established manufacturing company in the Akron/Uniontown area.

This position is a vital role to feed the machine shop and weld shop with material ready for the next stage of production while maintaining quality and safety standards. 

Hours:

• 6:00am – 4:30pm Monday – Thursday
• 6:00am – 2:30pm Friday (Overtime available)

Pay:

• $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read job specifications to determine material requirements and saw adjustments
• Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures as indicated by scale, rule or template to secure and direct the workpiece using hand tools and measuring devices
• Position workpieces against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
• Set controls to adjust speed/feed rates and blade tensions and adjust as necessary to produce the highest quality part as quickly and safely as possible
• Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
• Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of cut part to print
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from workpiece
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of part per print before sending to machine shop or weld shop
• Maintain the saws, including, but not limited to, replacing blades on the various saws using hand tools, monitoring coolant/oil levels and adding/replacing as needed, and general cleaning
• Load/unload steel trucks, checking delivered material for order accuracy and completeness
• Maintain steel inventory in an organized manner and assist in conducting annual physical inventory
• Maintain a clean work area and return equipment and tools to their designated place at the end of the day
• Assist other departments and functions as needed

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience operating automated and semi-automated band saws and non-ferrous saws required
• Experience working with hot rolled steel and cold rolled steel required
• Experience operating, or an ability and willingness to quickly learn to operate, an overhead crane is required
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, detailed written and/or verbal instructions
• Forklift experience preferred
• Must be able to use and read tape measures and calipers
• Must have reliable transportation
