Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess technical knowledge of construction estimating costs associated with various construction projects in the industrial, commercial and manufacturing arena.

*Local candidates only. This position requires working on site at our office in Cumming, GA.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create high-level budgets for proposals: i.e. labor resources, materials, sub-contractors, vendors.
  • Develop detailed bid estimates for projects.
  • Develop detailed proposals based on RFQ requirements.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs across all trades and review project plans and specifications to gain a complete understanding of project scope.
  • Price multi-craft scopes including, stacks, chimney’s, silos and vessels, conveyors, chutes, piping, fabrication, and structural repairs.
  • Estimate shutdown, turnaround, and outage work, accounting for compressed schedules, downtime cost, and emergency responses.
  • Update budgets as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Solicit new subcontractors and vendors for budget and planning purposes.
  • Obtain a minimum of three qualified subcontractor/vendor quotes for each scope of work.
  • Manage estimating workflow and pipeline to deliver complete estimate packages before bid & proposal deadlines.
  • Review client-provided scopes of work and distribute bid packages to vendors and subcontractors as needed.
  • Assign or propose profit margins based on current pricing guidelines.
  • Prepare a Bid Summary for each estimate.
  • Review bids with the sales and operations teams.
  • Estimate change orders to support operations.
  • Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings (travel required when needed)
  • Foster relationships with key vendors.
  • Ensure profit and overhead ratios are met.
  • Update, modify, and utilize internal pricing tools.
  • Identify and appropriately mitigate risk.
  • The ability to perform takeoffs from drawings, piping and RFQ’s a plus.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • Propensity towards mathematics.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, interpret, and compare detailed and often inadequately defined information.
  • Ability to make reliable and accurate conclusions based on the information gathered.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting verbally and in writing in a manner relevant to the audience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids simultaneously under deadlines.
  • Understanding of the construction industry, best practices, and knowledge of major business players in the community a plus.
  • Understanding of public and private bidding practices.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) in construction, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience estimating construction projects
  • Overnight travel is estimated to be up to 20% for Prebid and site visits.
  • Experience with large-scale industrial and mechanical projects, including shutdowns, turnaround, and outage work.
  • Experience with conceptual estimating, preconstruction, and hard-bid estimating.
  • Working knowledge of silos, vessels, scrubber systems, stacks, chimney’s, conveyors, chutes, piping, fabrication, and structural mechanical repair.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including MSHA, OSHA, AWS, ASME, and NBBI.
  • Advanced knowledge of software such as; Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, Excel, CRM’s.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time salaried position with significant commission opportunity. The starting salary range is $60,000 - $70,000 per year with total compensation (base + commission) averaging $80,000 - $120,000+. .We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
