Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Industrial Painter to join a structural steel manufacturing operation in Oklahoma City. This position is responsible for preparing and spray painting steel beams and structural building components using industrial painting equipment.
Work is performed in a covered outdoor environment, and employees must be comfortable wearing a respirator and protective paint suit for extended periods. The ideal candidate has previous industrial, construction, manufacturing, or general labor experience and is comfortable performing physically demanding work on an extended schedule.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous industrial, construction, manufacturing, or general labor experience required
Industrial spray painting experience preferred
Must be clean-shaven to ensure a proper respirator seal
Must be comfortable wearing a respirator for extended periods
Must be comfortable wearing a full protective paint suit throughout assigned painting work
Ability to safely use industrial spray-painting equipment
Ability to follow coating and production requirements
Strong attention to safety and quality
Ability to work the full MondaySaturday schedule
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Ability to follow all OSHA and company safety procedures
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Spray paint steel beams and structural building components
Operate industrial spray-painting equipment safely and efficiently
Apply one or more specified coatings according to production requirements
Prepare steel surfaces before painting
Inspect surfaces before coating application
Maintain consistent paint coverage across structural components
Follow established coating and production specifications
Wear required respirator and protective paint suit during painting operations
Assist with moving and positioning steel materials as needed
Maintain clean and organized painting and production areas
Handle paint equipment and materials according to safety requirements
Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines
Perform additional painting and production duties as assigned
Surface Preparation & Painting
Responsibilities may include:
Preparing structural steel surfaces for painting
Cleaning surfaces before coating application
Setting up industrial spray equipment
Applying specified coatings
Maintaining consistent spray patterns and coverage
Identifying missed areas or visible coating defects
Performing touch-up work as required
Keeping painting equipment and work areas organized
Respirator & PPE Requirements
This position requires regular use of specialized PPE.
Candidates must be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face
Respirator must be worn according to applicable safety requirements
Protective paint suit required
Additional PPE must be worn according to company and OSHA requirements
Candidates must be comfortable wearing required PPE for extended periods throughout the shift
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Industrial Painter experience
Structural steel painting experience
Industrial spray gun experience
Manufacturing painting experience
Construction or steel fabrication experience
Surface preparation experience
Experience working around large structural components
Manufacturing education, training, or certification is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to assist with positioning steel materials
Manual dexterity required for spray-painting equipment
Ability to wear a respirator and full paint suit for extended periods
Comfortable performing physically demanding industrial work throughout long shifts
Work Environment
Covered outdoor industrial environment
Regular work around structural steel beams and building components
Exposure to paints, coatings, spray equipment, and related industrial materials
Required use of respirator, protective paint suit, and other PPE
Extended MondayFriday schedule plus Saturday hours
Physically active production environment requiring consistent safety awareness
Strong emphasis on OSHA compliance, paint quality, productivity, and dependable attendance
