Industrial Painter

Job Summary:

The industrial spray painter will spray surfaces of manufactured products with protective material such as enamel or epoxy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Selecting and mixing coating paints to desired color and prepare spraying equipment such as cleaning or adjusting spray guns. Willingness to take direction from area lead and follow that direction and to be a self-starter when not working under direct supervision. Be capable of reading and understanding technical documents such as paint mixing procedures and maintaining sprayer equipment as required. Have the ability and desire to become efficient with painting techniques, meet company productivity rates, maintain mil thickness, and learn all aspects of job as required. Cleaning spraying equipment with solvent or other recommended cleaning solutions daily. Maintaining the paint mix room while following the company safety policies. Clean steel according to specified guidelines provided by supervisor. Maintaining proper respirator care and operation and using the breathing air supply system when spraying epoxy paints.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work.

Education and Experience:

Completion of a formal apprenticeship program, previous experience, or on-the-job training required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing and painting. Bending and squatting for long lengths of time. Must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Must be able to distinguish among colors. Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
