Industrial Maintenance Technician — Rotating Equipment & Reliability

Location: PPG Barberton/Norton, OH

Compensation: $34.80/hour starting pay

Bonuses: $1,000 sign-on (paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days) and $1,000 retention (paid at 12 months)

Shifts: 2nd (Mon–Fri, 3:00 pm–11:00 pm) or 3rd (Sun–Thu, 11:00 pm–7:00 am); overtime as business requires

A day in this role

You’ll join a high-performing production team keeping our chemical manufacturing assets running flawlessly. From troubleshooting a balky gear reducer on the mixer line to performing predictive checks across pumps and seals, your craftsmanship keeps people safe and operations on pace.

What you’ll tackle

• Diagnose, repair, modify, and install plant equipment to keep the facility operating at peak performance.
• Execute PM and PdM on belts, piping, filters, mixers, valves, bearings, motors, gearboxes, dies, extruders, feeders, rolls, drive chains, classifiers, mills, mechanical seals, and pumps.
• Troubleshoot complex building and production systems; replace/repair components and proof-test to verify fixes.
• Work safely in confined spaces and at heights using ladders, scaffolds, elevated platforms, and on roofs.
• Apply 5S principles to drive cleanliness, efficiency, and safety on your lines.
• Document work accurately; read and interpret manuals, technical drawings, blueprints, CAD schematics.
• Proactively monitor running machines to detect early signs of malfunction.
• Perform basic welding and light fabrication to support quick-turn repairs.
• Identify root causes under time pressure and implement durable solutions.

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience; chemical manufacturing background preferred.
• Completion of a Maintenance Apprenticeship or Mechanical Institute certificate.
• Hands-on expertise rebuilding pumps and gearboxes.
• HVAC or Electrical experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, at various heights, and perform lifting/manual labor.
• Strong PC proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS (MicroMain, SAP, or similar).
• Comfort wearing PPE including a respirator.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed; strong safety and attendance record.
