    Description

Industrial Maintenance Technician — Optical Manufacturing

If you’ve ever slipped on a pair of Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol or Oliver Peoples frames—or trusted lenses like Varilux, Crizal, Eyezen, Stellest or Transitions—you’ve experienced our work. As a global leader in eyewear and eyecare, we design, build, and deliver premium vision products to customers in 150+ countries through brands and retail networks like Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, Target Optical, and cutting-edge e‑commerce platforms.

At the heart of our growth is a high-tech, integrated supply chain: centralized frame operations and a nationwide network of prescription labs for lens finishing. In this role, you’ll keep the equipment that powers this system running at peak performance.

    A day in the life

You start by verifying daily equipment set-ups and calibrations. A preventive maintenance task in Megamations flags an upcoming service—so you gather parts, lock-out/tag-out, and complete the PM. Mid-morning, a production line needs quick troubleshooting; using schematics and your multimeter, you trace the issue, replace a component, and get the line back on schedule. After lunch, you disassemble and clean a mechanism, log your maintenance data, and coach a teammate on best practices. You end the day by scanning open work orders and planning tomorrow’s tasks.

    What you’ll do

    • Execute preventive maintenance per schedule; diagnose and repair equipment to support manufacturing throughput and uptime.
    • Handle facility and equipment needs across plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and PLC-related tasks.
    • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble systems—both mechanical and electrical.
    • Perform minor electronic repairs, alignments, and calibrations; ensure daily start-up set-up and calibration are completed.
    • Enter and analyze maintenance records and performance data.
    • Track PMs, parts/orders, and tool activities in Megamations.
    • Assist the maintenance team leader in training manufacturing and maintenance associates.
    • Support process improvements in partnership with our total quality facilitator.
    • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality, including breaks and lunch.
    • Champion safety (including strict Lock-Out/Tag-Out) and give immediate feedback when risks are observed.
    • Follow company policies and take on special projects as assigned.

    Basic qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant maintenance experience.
    • Hands-on background in highly automated, lean/continuous-flow production environments.
    • Proven troubleshooting using electrical schematics, a multimeter, and equipment manuals.
    • Ability to resolve issues remotely while collaborating with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Comfort with PCs and basic math.
    • Knowledge of safety procedures and standards, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out.
    • Physical capability to lift 50–100 lbs., stand or walk continuously, and frequently lift from waist, shoulder, and overhead.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Associate degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).
    • 3+ years of related maintenance experience.
