Industrial Maintenance Supervisor – Oil & Gas / LPG.

This position is based in Puerto Rico but will support operations in USVI.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a competent Industrial Oil and Gas Operation and Maintenance Supervisor to manage maintenance in our client's facility. You will be responsible for hiring and training maintenance crews and ensuring the smooth running of upkeep or repair operations. An excellent maintenance supervisor must be reliable and have a great eye for detail. They must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts such as instrumentation, piping, values, fittings, electrical, etc. Leadership and knowledge of administrative tasks such as scheduling are essential. The goal is to ensure that facilities are in a good and safe condition at all times, and preventative maintenance is planned and ongoing throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance.

· Help plan and organize yearly inspections and turnarounds.

· Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work.

· Supervise and train maintenance technicians and crews.

· Hire and supervise tradesmen during installations, repairs, or maintenance (electricians, pipe fitters, welders, etc.).

· Inspect and maintain operation systems (boilers, values, instrumentation, etc.).

· Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance.

· Monitor inventory of materials and equipment.

· Participate in coordination of projects (e.g. turnarounds, replacements).

· Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations.

· Analyze drawings, wiring diagrams, electrical and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting, repair, calibration, modification, and installation of new equipment.

· Understand and interpret weld symbols, filler metal selection, joint preparation, and general fabrication practices.

· Service all types of electronic devices and electronic control systems.

· Sketch parts or designs and construct adaptations or conversions of component parts.

· Perform work in accordance with all regulatory documentation and specifications.

· Make positive progress during the rotation duration as to general maintenance competencies and productivity.

· Abide by all policies and procedures established by the company.

· Meet attendance requirements.

· Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

· Perform troubleshooting functions in an oil and gas terminal environment.

· Rotating equipment troubleshooting and repair.

· Preventive Maintenance execution.

· Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events.

· Hydraulics, pneumatics and pneumatic controls and components.

· Inspection of equipment and effective communication with peers and managers.

· Use all sorts of equipment and tools for the trade, electrical testing tools as well as mechanical tools.

· Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability.

· Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Bachelor's or technical trade degree preferred.

· Two or four year degree with any discipline from accredited college or university OR meet one of the following experience /specific knowledge.

ONE OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

· Honorable discharge US military, any branch with a technical orientated discipline or degree OR

· Three years terminal Oil and Gas Operations Maintenance experience OR

· Five years of general industry experience such as working as an electrician, pipefitter, instrumentation tech, or steamfitter in the refinery, petrochemical plants, energy related industries, or have millwright or industrial mechanical trade certifications.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

· Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by all locations.

· Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).

· The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role

· Strong technical knowledge of all mechanical and electrical systems

· Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations

· Understanding of budgeting and performance management

· Excellent planning and leadership abilities

· An eye for detail

· Computer savvy

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· High school diploma: Degree from a vocational school will be a plus.

· Professional Certifications or Tradesmen's' skills are preferred.

· Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience preferred.

· Previous supervisory experience preferred.

· Experience with Preventative/Planned Maintenance processes and procedures and ability to develop procedures and schedules preferred.

· Experience working with and maintaining boilers, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment, and cooling systems.

· Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.

· Working knowledge of computers and computer software.

· Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday through Friday, which may include some overtime, weekends, and holidays.

· Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak, and understand English language in verbal and written communication.

· Expert with systems troubleshooting and strong mechanical aptitude.

· Aptitude for documentation and data analysis.

· Familiarity with design and installation of LPG gas and equipment including piping systems and facility support equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is in an Industrial LPG storage and vaporization facility, and the worker shall be exposed to, and expected to work in:

· Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions and also but not limited to heights in excess of 5 feet, work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas, etc.

· Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, etc. for extended periods of time.

· Regularly lift and/or move a up to 55 pounds.

· Climb ladders and work at high elevations, using the proper safety equipment

· Ability to work if required 12+hour rotating shifts during unexpected maintenance work and repairs.

· Work during facility turnarounds and shutdowns with sometimes unknown and unexpected work timelines.

· Work both indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment with temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.

· Routinely reacts to visual, aural, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

· May work in confined spaces (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels).

· Must have the ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads.

· Must be able to enter and climb above-grade storage tanks.

· Ability to climb ladders (approx. 50 feet) and work comfortably and safely at heights.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Previous chemical, refining, or terminal experience in maintenance.

· Five years of experience with process or energy facilities such as gas processing plant, refinery, terminal, or similar related experience is preferred.

o Work must include proficiency with, instrumentation calibration, electrical, optical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

· Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Electrical training preferred.
