Industrial Hygiene Specialist

Location: Redmond, Washington (Onsite)

Role Overview

Join a Global Industrial Hygiene (IH) team supporting research environments. This role focuses on managing and executing Industrial Hygiene programs related to chemical, noise, and nanotechnology exposures. You will partner with researchers, Operations teams, EHS professionals, and third-party consultants to identify workplace exposure risks, coordinate assessments, maintain program documentation, and help ensure a safe research environment. This position is for an individual with an Industrial Hygiene background who enjoys a mix of technical assessments, program management, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Industrial Hygiene programs across laboratory and research environments.
  • Review Change Management requests and perform Industrial Hygiene screenings for new processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Partner with Operations, EHS, and research teams to identify potential chemical and noise exposure risks.
  • Coordinate with third-party Industrial Hygiene consultants on exposure monitoring and sampling activities.
  • Participate in qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments.
  • Review sampling plans, reports, and recommendations provided by external consultants.
  • Communicate sampling results and findings to researchers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain Industrial Hygiene databases, documentation, and tracking tools across a large global lab footprint.
  • Track assessments, screenings, corrective actions, and program-related tasks.
  • Support exposure assessments involving chemicals, powders, liquids, and emerging technologies, including nanomaterials.
  • Ensure Industrial Hygiene data, records, and program documentation remain accurate and up to date.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or EHS experience with an Industrial Hygiene focus.
  • Experience conducting or supporting chemical and/or noise exposure assessments.
  • Experience reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and identifying workplace exposure risks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and databases simultaneously.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, researchers, EHS teams, and external vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and data management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health.
  • Pursuing or interested in obtaining Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
  • Experience working in research, laboratory, semiconductor, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with nanotechnology, nanoparticles, powders, or advanced materials.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs), and Industrial Hygiene best practices.
  • Experience managing Industrial Hygiene programs, databases, or compliance tracking systems.
  • Chemistry, toxicology, or exposure assessment knowledge.
  • Experience coordinating with third-party Industrial Hygiene consultants and reviewing sampling reports.
