    Description

    We are seeking an Engineering Technician with strong automotive/electrical experience to install and support two-way radios and related equipment across a large fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment in Colorado.

    This role is highly field-based, hands-on, and independent. You will travel to various service centers, plants, and field locations to perform installs and eventually basic troubleshooting

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install two-way radios (e.g., Client or similar) into a wide variety of vehicles:
      • Light-duty trucks (e.g., F-150, F-350)
      • Medium/heavy-duty trucks and freightliners
      • Utility and specialty equipment (tuggers, cable-pulling vehicles, snowcats, Polaris Rangers, loaders, scrapers, etc.)
      • Work in fleet garages, service centers, and plant environments to complete installations.
    • Coordinate with vehicle owners/operators at each service center to:
      • Understand how they use the vehicle
      • Determine preferred radio and antenna placement
      • Complete installs to their satisfaction
      • Use a ticketing system (ServiceNow) to receive assignments, plan your daily/weekly work, and document completed tasks.
      • After initial training, perform basic troubleshooting and minor programming changes (e.g., correcting IDs or truck numbers) on radios as needed.
      • Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements in garages, plants, and field environments.
      • Travel extensively across Colorado; manage your own day-to-day schedule, hotel arrangements, and expense reporting in line with company policy.

    Must-Have Qualifications

    • Automotive / vehicle electrical experience, such as:
      • Working with 12V and/or 24V systems
      • Previous work as an automotive technician, fleet technician, upfitter, or similar
      • Experience with stereo or electronics installations in vehicles
    • Comfortable disassembling and reassembling vehicle interiors:
      • Removing trim, interior panels, and headliners
      • Installing antennas and running cabling cleanly and safely
      • Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools.
    • Self-motivated, independent worker:
      • Able to manage your own workload from a ticket queue
      • Plan routes and prioritize work across multiple sites
    • Solid customer service and communication skills:
      • Treat internal departments and service centers as customers
      • Respect that operators live in their vehicles and prioritize their preferences for radio placement
    • Willingness and ability to:
      • Travel extensively within Colorado
      • Spend time on the road and stay in hotels as needed
      • Work safely in garages, plants, and outdoor environments.

    Nice-to-Have Experience

    • Previous work at:
      • Two-way radio service shops
      • Mobile electronics install environments (e.g., Best Buy mobile install, fleet upfitters, emergency vehicle builders)
    • Experience installing equipment in:
      • Squad cars, fire apparatus, ambulances, utility trucks, or heavy equipment
    • Familiarity with:
      • Radio programming concepts (basic understanding)
      • ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
