The Field Operations Contractor will travel to Xcel-owned sites and facilities as part of daily operations. This role requires transporting Xcel-owned equipment to various locations and performing tasks related to the IT-INFS purchased radios. In addition this contractor will also be used in the LCFM role. Responsibilities will include installing radios into various pieces of equipment and buildings. Responsibilities may also include HVAC replacements, work on DC power plants, radio system upgrades, and generator maintenance, with duties varying week to week.

Responsible for the deployment of radios and other various pieces of hardware to support the Field Operations Groups of Xcel Energy. Develops functional requirements. Understands and applies standard engineering principles. Creates simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and test how a machine, structure or system operates. Designs and tests components, and integrates components to produce final product. Monitors quality of products and controls the efficiency of processes. Evaluates a design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements. The following is a list of duties not limitied too, of what will be required.
· Radio Installations of LMR radios in various equipment and buildings.
· DC Plant installation and maintenance including rectifier, breakers, wiring, terminations, batteries, network communication, configuration, AC input, DC output.
· AC UPS installation and maintenance including APC Lithium-Ion UPS 1k, 3k, 5k, transformer, PDU's, network communication, cable management.
· Grounding and Bonding including building, tower, equipment, interior and exterior.
· Siteboss or alarm recognition maintenance including interface remotely and on site.
· Being able to use electrical instruments such as Volt or Amp Meter, Conduit Bender, Hand Tools, safely and properly.
· Understanding the proper PPE for each situation.
· Escorting or supervising external contractors for various work.
· Creating BOM (Bill of Material) for projects such as Grounding and Bonding, AC or DC UPS, pLTE, Cable Management/Refresh of Sites.
· Receiving and organizing material for upcoming work.
· Maintaining "inventory” of replacement equipment.
· Troubleshooting tickets that involve power or UPS systems within our group.
· Refreshing/cleaning MDF's or IDF's with cable management, necessary upgrades or updates to equipment or racks.
· Documenting existing equipment and determining life expectancy.
· Keeping updated knowledge of sites, access, ownership, etc.
· All objectives are generally done unsupervised, meaning being self-motivated and able to find issues and solve them without being told. Understanding DEMARC or where your scope ends and someone else's begins.
