Description

A leading automotive and EV-battery manufacturer is hiring an Industrial Engineer to support battery manufacturing operations, capital projects, production readiness, and continuous improvement in Liberty, NC (onsite). You will design, analyze, improve, and document manufacturing systems and production-engineering processes, using objective data, cross-functional collaboration, and clear technical communication to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and knowledge transfer.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production requirements and develop manufacturing concepts that support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity targets
  • Design and improve production flow, material flow, staffing concepts, work balance, and facility or equipment layouts
  • Perform cycle-time studies, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, and utilization analysis; build capacity models and quantify gaps
  • Lead or support continuous-improvement activities for productivity, ergonomics, quality, cost, and waste reduction using structured problem solving
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, reports, and executive summaries; analyze production data, variation, losses, and trends
  • Support equipment specification, installation, commissioning, trial, production readiness, ramp-up, and handover
  • Coordinate across Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Facilities, vendors, and contractors; maintain schedules, action tracking, and risk registers
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering standards, procedures, technical guides, check sheets, templates, and process maps
  • Translate engineering knowledge and lessons learned into clear, controlled, repeatable processes and training materials

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 5 plus years of industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or production-systems experience
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing, automated production, equipment implementation, or manufacturing-system improvement
  • Hands-on industrial-engineering methods: capacity planning, time study, line balancing, labor planning, bottleneck analysis, layout, material flow, standardized work
  • Technical-writing and standards development: authoring or revising engineering standards, procedures, specifications, manuals, or training materials, with document control
  • Advanced Excel and manufacturing data analysis or visualization; clear communication to working-level and leadership audiences
  • Able to work in a manufacturing plant environment (field observation, PPE use, implementation support)
  • Preferred: battery cell/module/pack, clean room, dry room, formation, or high-volume automated manufacturing; greenfield/brownfield, commissioning, launch, ramp-up; Power BI, SQL, Python, Minitab, Tableau; discrete-event simulation (FlexSim, AnyLogic, Plant Simulation); lean methods


Required Skills

  • Industrial-engineering analysis: capacity planning, cycle-time and time study, line balancing, and bottleneck analysis
  • Production and material flow design, facility/equipment layout, and standardized work
  • Analytical and capacity modeling with defined inputs, assumptions, and measurable criteria
  • Continuous improvement and structured problem solving (productivity, ergonomics, quality, cost, waste)
  • Manufacturing data analytics, KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting
  • Equipment integration support: specification, commissioning, production readiness, and ramp-up
  • Engineering standards and technical writing: procedures, specifications, process maps, and document control
  • *Software / tools:* advanced Excel; Power BI, SQL, Python, Minitab, Tableau (a plus); discrete-event simulation such as FlexSim, AnyLogic, or Plant Simulation (a plus)
