BlueWave is hiring an Industrial Electrician for an energy client based in Palo Alto, California. As an Industrial Electrician, you will install and modify electrical systems and test infrastructure in an engineering lab supporting product development and prototype integration. This is an onsite, three-month contract with potential extension or conversion; neither is guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Set up and modify engineering labs, electrical test equipment, and connections to building electrical systems.
- Install and modify wiring, electrical panels, power distribution systems, electrical drops, and single- and three-phase power systems.
- Build test fixtures and custom equipment using power supplies, active loads, power analyzers, electrical bussing, contactors, and structural framing.
- Wire and assemble equipment racks with high- and low-voltage wiring, computers, and DIN rail power supplies.
- Bend and install conduit, pull cable, and install channel strut, overhead wire trays, and electrical enclosures.
- Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to create parts lists and installation work plans.
- Document completed installations and produce accurate as-built drawings.
- Evaluate electrical hazards, complete pre-work task planning, and follow established electrical safety practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, facilities personnel, and technicians while adapting to changing test configurations.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of hands-on industrial electrical experience.
- Experience working in an engineering lab or research and development environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, including using the NEC Code Book to size conductors and conduits.
- Experience installing electrical equipment, modifying circuits, and working with single- and three-phase power systems.
- Experience working safely with industrial power systems at 480VAC or higher.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, electrical meters, and testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong electrical safety practices.
- Facilities, data center, or comparable electrical infrastructure experience preferred.
- High-voltage DC or solar electrical experience preferred.
