A day in this role
You roll up to the bench, open the schematic, and get to work assembling and evaluating electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus. With sockets, ratchets, power tools, a test light, a battery tester, cable cutters, pliers, and crimpers at the ready, you build to spec, test for performance, and keep everything maintained and safe.
What you'll handle
- Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and written specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Advise management on the continued use of unsuitable equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Perform minor troubleshooting to isolate electrical/repair problems.
- Conduct repairs related to minor mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems.
- Identify parts to be repaired or replaced and locate the correct replacements in manuals for requisition.
- Provide the tools necessary to complete assigned repair tasks.
- Observe all required company safety precautions at every step.
