Industrial Diesel & Hydraulics Equipment Technician

Step into a day where your mechanical instincts keep critical operations moving. At Clean Harbors Deer Park, you’ll start your shift by prioritizing safety, reviewing work orders, and planning preventive maintenance across a variety of mobile and shop equipment. You’ll diagnose complex issues with computerized instrumentation, tear down and rebuild components, validate repairs against manufacturer specifications, and document every step along the way. Between tasks, you’ll collaborate with a safety-focused crew that lives Health & Safety 3-6-5.

Union-Covered Role, Schedule, and Pay

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Work schedule, hourly pay, and testing requirements are governed by the union contract.

Work Schedule (per CBA):
Shiftwork schedule (4-12HR day shifts, 4 days off/on-call, 4-12HR hour day shifts, 4 days off/off-call)

Hourly Wage (per CBA):
$37.82/HR; Additional earnings may include overtime opportunities and other benefits outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Pre-Employment Steps (per CBA)

As part of the hiring process and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), candidates will successfully complete:

  • Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test
  • Diesel Repair Certification
  • Air Conditioning Certification (EPA Section 609)

What You’ll Do

  • Live our safety culture—Health & Safety is the number one priority in every task.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and execute repairs: troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, and reassemble components.
  • Test equipment and mechanical systems post-repair to ensure performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Use computer-based diagnostic tools and execute work orders.
  • Support additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Passing score on the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test.
  • 3+ years maintaining and repairing heavy industrial and mobile equipment in a plant environment.
  • Hands-on expertise troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read schematics and diagnose mechanical plant systems.
  • Caterpillar & Kubota engine repair experience, certifications, or education a plus.
  • Skilled in operating a cutting torch (propylene) for metal cutting/demolition.
  • Experience servicing vehicle or mobile air conditioning systems.
  • Air Conditioning Certification or equivalent experience.
  • Diesel Repair Certification or equivalent experience.
  • Physically able to lift, bend, climb, and handle equipment; lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.
