Industrial Controls Technician (Day & Night Shift) The Industrial Controls Technician is responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance, and reliable operation of automation, controls, and instrumentation systems across a 24/7 food manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on troubleshooting role (no programming or code modification is required). Minimum Requirements - High school diploma or GED required; 3+ years of industrial maintenance, electrical, or controls experience.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems; ability to navigate ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagrams to diagnose faults and check I/O without modifying code.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems up to 480 VAC including motor controls, VFDs, and servo drives.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with industrial instrumentation; temperature, pressure, flow, and level devices.
- Familiarity with HMI systems and SCADA platforms; Ignition experience is a plus.
- Must be comfortable working independently on off-shifts with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work 8 or 12-hour shifts, day or night, including holidays and emergency call-ins.
Responsibilities - Troubleshoot and resolve controls issues on pasteurizers, blending systems, fillers, CIP systems, and packaging lines.
- Navigate PLC programs to identify faults, verify I/O, and diagnose control issues across a variety of platforms (no code modification required).
- Respond to equipment alarms and production calls, diagnose root cause, and restore operations safely and efficiently.
- Inspect, maintain, and replace instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and control valves.
- Perform preventive maintenance including panel inspections, sensor calibrations, and device replacements.
- Troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, motor starters, and associated electrical controls.
- Use eMaint CMMS to document corrective maintenance, inspections, and parts usage.
- Communicate equipment conditions clearly to management and production teams.
- Follow all LOTO, GMP, food safety, and OSHA requirements.
