    Description

    Shape the Future of Connectivity

Prysmian leads the world in energy and telecom cable systems. Every year, we produce thousands of miles of underground and submarine cables for power transmission and distribution, plus medium and low-voltage cables for construction and infrastructure. Our portfolio also spans optical fibers, copper cables, and connectivity solutions for voice, video, and data in the telecom sector. With 30,000 colleagues across 50+ countries, we’re united by a shared opportunity to make our mark and help transform the world around us.

    The Role

As an Industrial Controls Engineer on our Automation team, you’ll support the manufacturing of optical fiber by delivering robust PC- and PLC-based control solutions. You will be the go-to technical resource for PLC/HMI development, commissioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of automation assets.

    A Day in the Life

    • Start with a line health check—review PLC diagnostics and HMI alarms, verify backups, and scan for process drifts.
    • Jump into production support—resolve issues tied to equipment behavior or control software and keep fiber output on target.
    • Tackle code—develop, refine, and maintain PLC logic for Rockwell (Allen‑Bradley), Schneider, and/or Siemens platforms.
    • Partner cross-functionally—work with maintenance, process engineering, and operations to commission new equipment and validate performance.
    • Document diligently—ensure proper backups for all programs and critical support files per plant standards.
    • Lead with safety—comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines.

    What You’ll Work On

    • PLC application development, revision control, and standardization.
    • HMI configuration and integration with PC-to-PLC and PC-to-database transactions.
    • Fieldbus/industrial networks including Profibus, Ethernet, and Modbus+.
    • Continuous improvement initiatives for reliability, throughput, and quality in fiber manufacturing.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science.
    • Hands-on experience programming Rockwell (Allen‑Bradley), Schneider, and/or Siemens PLCs.
    • Preferred: background in fiber optic manufacturing or other highly automated industries.
    • Preferred: demonstrated PLC programming depth and familiarity with Profibus, Ethernet, and Modbus+.
