    Step Into the Role

    From your first week, you’ll take ownership of the full lifecycle of industrial control panel design. Your mornings might start in EPLAN refining schematics and layouts; by afternoon, you’re selecting breakers, fuses, drives, transformers, and rectifiers, confirming coordination and wire sizing, and syncing with fabrication partners to turn your designs into reality. You’ll set test plans for hipot, insulation resistance, and functional validation, and work side-by-side with mechanical, manufacturing, and electrical teammates to ensure reliable, compliant builds.

    What You’ll Own

    • End-to-end design of industrial control panels aligned to NEC (NFPA 70) and UL 508A.
    • Creation of complete schematics, panel layouts, and detailed BOMs in EPLAN or equivalent tools.
    • Component selection covering connectors, harnesses, branch circuit protection devices (breakers, fuses), and power conversion equipment (drives, transformers, rectifiers).
    • Specification for high-voltage systems up to 600V AC and 2000V DC.
    • Vendor partnership and oversight with third-party panel fabrication shops from concept through acceptance.
    • Definition and supervision of high-voltage test procedures: hipot, insulation resistance, and functional tests.
    • Collaboration with mechanical engineering on enclosures, thermal management, and seamless system integration.
    • Participation in DFMEA to uncover failure modes and drive mitigation strategies.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years’ relevant experience; or Master’s with 3+ years.
    • Proficiency with EPLAN or similar panel design software.
    • Proven design experience aligned with NEC and UL 508A requirements.
    • Hands-on high-voltage testing expertise and strict adherence to safety protocols.
    • Deep knowledge of branch circuit protection coordination, wire sizing, and power conversion systems.
    • Vendor management experience across design, fabrication, and acceptance milestones.
    • Familiarity with PLM platforms (e.g., Arena, Teamcenter), product development tools (e.g., Jira), and requirements management (e.g., Jama).
    • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

    Preferred

    • Background with a UL 508A Recognized Panel Shop or experience with UL listing processes.
    • NFPA 70E certification or demonstrated arc flash study experience.
    • Industry exposure: industrial automation, EV charging infrastructure, energy storage, or semiconductor equipment.
    • Experience using ETAP or similar tools for branch protection coordination studies.
