Industrial Centrifugal Air Systems Service Technician

Base Location: Indianapolis, IN

Role Snapshot

  • Hands-on field work: install, commission, diagnose, and repair centrifugal compressors and related air system equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance including 47-point inspections on compressors, refrigerated dryers, desiccant dryers, and auxiliary components.
  • Use precision instruments and interpret wiring diagrams/schematics to resolve advanced issues.
  • Document all tasks via work orders, checklists, and daily time entries.
  • Promote programs such as Package CARE, Preventive Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection to improve customer operations.
  • Coordinate with Service Coordinators and operations to source and stage parts/supplies; align practices with suppliers and external partners.
  • Perform basic vibration analysis and troubleshoot air quality concerns.
  • Continuously assess safety in changing environments.

What You’ll Need

  • 3–5 years’ experience working specifically with centrifugal compressors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license (12+ months). Driving record free of major/frequent violations, including: DUI within 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple minor violations/preventable collisions within 3 years.
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms and varied conditions (noise, extreme weather, elevated/confined spaces) and around high voltage per NFPA/equivalent standards.
  • Physical capability for frequent hand use, walking, stooping, kneeling, and routinely lifting/moving loads consistent with safety policy.
  • Microsoft Office familiarity; comfortable with smartphones/tablets (e.g., iPad) and network-based tools.
  • Clear written/verbal communication and customer service skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.

Work Style

  • Daily travel to customer sites.
  • Occasional overtime and occasional overnight stays.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $35.00 – $50.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications; full-time hourly.
  • Sign-On: $3,000 Sign On Bonus.
