Ready to wire, pipe, and bring complex boiler systems to life?
If you enjoy hands-on work, precise wiring, and clean piping runs, this entry-level role (with limited decision-making) puts you at the center of final assembly—building and installing components on boiler heads and complete boilers so they’re ready to fire.
Why Cleaver-Brooks?
Because our integrated approach is unmatched. We design and manufacture boilers, burners, controls, and a full array of ancillary and aftermarket products under one roof. That single-source capability, supported by a best-in-class distribution network, delivers efficient, reliable, safe, and environmentally responsible boiler room solutions that reduce total cost and save space—backed by 80+ years of leadership.
Your Challenge
Master at least three assembly cells while hitting quality and production targets. Picture yourself:
- Building burner drawers and air compressors; cutting ¼” to 4” pipe nipples; bending tubing for multiple applications.
- Outfitting CB, CBE, CBLE, CBW, CBX, and CEW front heads with control panels, motor bases, electrical components and conduit, air hoods, and all oil and gas piping.
- Mounting gas trains, oil piping, air lines, blowdown systems, water columns, and air compressors across all boiler sizes.
- Reading prints and completing wiring for motors and components at 24, 110, 208, 230, 460, and 575 volts.
- Loading E-boxes and control panels and finishing wiring via the E.M.S. and official wiring diagrams.
- Piping and testing gas trains, water columns, starter trains, and pilot trains.
- Wiring CB boilers end-to-end: from front head to junction or E-box; and from E-box to pressure control, air compressor, oil pumps, gas trains, and aquastats—plus mounting and wiring disconnects of every size.
- Hanging and fitting front and rear doors on every model.
- Following all plant safety rules; taking on additional tasks from the Cell Leader or Foreman; directing questions to the Trainer, Cell Leader, or Foreman.
Can You Meet the Demands?
- Lift up to 60 lbs. to chest height routinely.
- Stand and walk on a hard concrete floor for up to 12 hours.
- Bend, stretch, stoop, squat regularly; climb ladders up to 8 feet and climb stairs.
- Work in temperatures that reflect outdoor ambient conditions.
- Access all interior and exterior areas of the plant.
Safety & PPE
- Expect exposure to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes, natural gas, fuel oils, and machine lubricants/oils.
- Always use required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and fall protection.
What Sets You Up for Success
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Strong reading, writing, and math fundamentals.
- Industrial electrician training (preferred).
- Six months as a Trainee or one year in electrical and/or plumbing/piping within a related manufacturing environment.
Rewards & Benefits
Competitive pay plus: medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, wellness benefits, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, cash-matching 401(k), generous vacation, and 11 paid holidays.
