Industrial Automation Electrician — Siemens S7 & High‑Voltage Systems
Location: Apple Grove, WV
Employment Type: Full Time
A day in this role
Sunrise at a cutting-edge steel facility. You’re on the floor before the first billet rolls, reviewing last night’s logs and tracing a fault trail through Siemens S7 logic. By mid-morning, you’ve isolated a speed-reference mismatch between a PLC and an ABB VFD, adjusted parameters, and watched production stabilize. After lunch, a 4,160V feeder trips—your meter and schematics come out as you methodically narrow the issue. Before shift-end, you swap a failed motor, align the coupling, land the leads, verify rotation, and sign off commissioning checks with the operators who rely on your know‑how.
What you’ll take on
- Modify and troubleshoot Siemens S7 PLC logic to support commissioning, startup, and ongoing improvements.
- Diagnose and work safely around high-voltage power systems, including 480V, 4,160V, 13.5kV, and 345kV equipment.
- Configure and troubleshoot VFDs (ABB, Siemens, WEG) and resolve drive behavior issues.
- Pinpoint and correct PLC‑to‑VFD communication and speed‑reference problems.
- Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to guide repairs and upgrades.
- Perform end‑to‑end motor changeouts—mechanical installation and electrical terminations.
- Support equipment commissioning, startup debug, and plant troubleshooting activities.
- Partner with operators to resolve issues and boost equipment reliability.
What makes you a great fit
- Proven industrial electrical troubleshooting background in fast‑paced environments.
- Hands‑on PLC experience—ideally Siemens S7—including making logic edits.
- Comfort working on systems above 480V with strong safety awareness.
- Deep skill with VFD setup, tuning, and fault resolution.
- Mechanical aptitude for replacing motors and maintaining heavy equipment.
- Self‑directed, adaptable, and communicative team player.
Preferred: Exposure to multiple PLC families, heavy manufacturing experience, commissioning/startup background, and formal electrical training or an apprenticeship.
