Income Verification Specialist

Job Title: Income Verification Specialist
Location: White Plains, NY
Compensation: $24/Hour
Work Model: On-Site
Hours: 8a-5p, M-F

Responsibilities

• Assist low-income families and individuals, including homeless, elderly, or disabled, to secure affordable housing and improve living conditions.
• Complete ongoing, annual, and interim re-examinations for HCV Program participants, including notifying participants and owner/landlords of updates, initiating move requests, and handling rent adjustments.
• Explain, interpret, and apply HUD and Agency policies, procedures, and regulations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Calculate income, determine rent amounts, and execute HAP contracts.
• Conduct interviews and assist clients in office-based settings.
• Schedule and perform annual and interim eligibility redeterminations, collecting necessary documentation.
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with HUD regulations and agency policies.
• Respond to inquiries from participants and property owners via phone and email.
• Maintain caseloads in accordance with productivity standards.
• Negotiate with landlords within program guidelines to house eligible families.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support department functions.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service and professional communication skills.
• Ability to explain program requirements clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and auxiliary software.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Associate degree and/or college credits in business, social work, or public administration preferred.
• Experience working in high-volume call and production settings preferred.
• Bi-lingual skills a plus.
