In Building Cellular Walk Test Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced In Building Cellular Walk Test Engineer to perform indoor RF walk testing for LTE/5G networks. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with in building test kit setup, mobile phone configuration, and industry standard walk test tools such as TEMS and XCAL. This role involves executing walk tests in commercial venues, collecting RF performance data, and supporting optimization and acceptance testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
" Perform in building cellular walk testing for LTE and 5G NR networks (coverage, quality, throughput, and mobility testing).
" Set up and configure in building walk test kits, including laptops, scanners (if applicable), mobile devices, and test accessories.
" Configure and manage test phones (Android/iOS) for walk testing, including band locking, RAT selection, carrier profiles, and logging parameters.
" Execute walk tests using TEMS and/or XCAL software as per customer test plans.
" Collect, log, and validate RF data including RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, PCI, throughput, call events, and handovers.
" Perform voice, data, and mobility testing inside buildings such as offices, malls, hospitals, stadiums, and campuses.
" Identify coverage gaps, interference, poor quality areas, and mobility issues.
" Ensure proper labeling, organization, and backup of log files.
" Provide basic analysis support and share log files with RF/Optimization teams for post processing.
" Follow site safety rules and customer specific testing procedures.
" Coordinate with field engineers, RF engineers, and project managers as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
" 2+ years of experience in in building cellular walk testing or RF field testing.
" Strong hands on experience with TEMS and/or XCAL (setup, logging, and execution).
" Proven experience in in building test kit setup and troubleshooting.
" Strong knowledge of phone configuration for testing (band lock, RAT lock, carrier configuration).
" Good understanding of LTE and 5G NR fundamentals (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, PCI, CQI, throughput).
" Experience testing DAS, Small Cells, or IBS (In Building Solutions) is required.
" Ability to read and follow walk test routes and floor plans.
" Comfortable working in indoor environments for extended periods (walking/standing).
" Basic knowledge of log file handling and transfer to RF teams.
Preferred Qualifications
" Experience with multi carrier environments (Telecommunication, T Mobile, Telecommunication).
" Familiarity with indoor DAS architectures and Small Cell deployments.
" Experience with 5G NSA/SA walk testing.
" Basic post processing or log review experience is a plus.
" Valid driver's license and ability to travel to test locations as required.
