Immunohematology Reference Laboratory Technologist Supervisor / IRL Supervisor in Idaho

Position Overview:

As an IRL Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the reference laboratory, supervise staff performing basic and advanced test procedures, interpret complex test results, and ensure donor/recipient compatibility. You will provide guidance to resolve compatibility issues, offer reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion facilities, and supply antigen-negative units to transfusion recipients. Demonstrating exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and a positive professional image are key aspects of this role.

Salary Information:

  • $80,000/year - $100,000 depending on experience

Schedule:

  • Day shift, Monday-Friday with flexible start and end times based on operational needs. Minimal on-call duties and no routine holiday coverage required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with hospitals and transfusion facilities to resolve serological issues and supply special units
  • Supervise laboratory staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure proper patient care
  • Maintain quality and adequacy of testing and consultation services
  • Perform and interpret donor and/or patient testing procedures
  • Manage budgetary information and approve purchases
  • Conduct record reviews and participate in inspections and audits
  • Perform other related duties as necessary

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological or related field and SBB (ASCP) equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years of high complexity blood bank testing experience or equivalent
  • One year of management experience or training
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
