    LIIC MISSION: We share a commitment to be a welcoming presence to all undocumented immigrants living on Long Island through the provision of legal assistance in the completion of immigration applications, education in their legal rights, and self advocacy guidance for court and other proceedings.


    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    The Immigration Clinic Director provides overall leadership and direction of the Long Island Immigration Clinic, reporting to the CSJ Liaison and the LIIC Advisory Board. The Director is responsible for the Fund Development Plan and Program budget; provides supervision to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the Program Manager, the Pre-Intake Specialist and others as program expands. (Currently a staff of 8). The Director maintains ongoing relationships within the community and with local organizations to promote the program and services of the Long Island Immigration Clinic.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

      Minimum of 8-10 years of supervisory and management experience in community-based services, i.e. social work, legal services, public administration, law or related field.

      Bachelor's degree in human service or related field required. Master's in social work public administration, law degree or related field preferred.

    Proficient knowledge and experience working with immigrant populations.


    CORE COMPETENCIES:

           Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with diverse individuals and groups.

           Oral and written competencies in a second language (Spanish and/or Haitian Creole)

           Strong project planning and time management skills, with the ability to accomplish initiatives within budget and with keen attention to detail.

           Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to staff with an ability to provide clear direction and constructive feedback.

           Proficient with computer technology and ability to work with online databases.

           Ethical judgment and professional ethics, assuring for the confidentiality of all clientele who utilize the clinic's services.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Includes, but is not limited to, the following:


    Advisory Board

           In consultation with the Advisory Board President, sets the agenda for the quarterly board meetings.

           Reviews the board minutes with the Advisory Board Secretary and distributes; sets up zoom calls for Advisory Board meetings, sends notices in advance of upcoming meetings, and provides documents and other materials needed for board review/discussion.

           Support and facilitate advisory board recruitment as needed.


    Fund Development & Budget

           Develops and executes the Fund Development plan to assure for program sustainability, to include the preparation ofthe annual budget.

           Liaises with Sisters of St. Joseph grant writer for funding opportunities and assistswith grant proposal submissions and all reporting to funders to meet grant requirements.

           Works with Mission Advancement Department in planning and executing 'friend-raiser' and fundraising events.

           Works in conjunction with the CSJ Finance Department, reviews grant allocations and monitors program expenses to stay within budget guidelines.  

           Places all orders for program and office supplies; utilizes the Blackbaud Financial system to input all invoices and then approves program expenses in the system.                                                   


    Data Collection

      Responsible for appropriate data collection, to include monitoring of all trackers of client and program information to assure for accuracy and completeness.


    Clinic Oversight & Direction

           Provide direct supervision of Program Manager, Managing Attorney, and Pre-Intake Specialist/Receptionist.

           Chairs weekly clinic team meetings.

           Responsible for long term strategic planning, to include future program design and capacity building to meet the needs of the community for immigration services.


    Policy Development

           In conjunction with the Managing Attorney and Program Manager, draft, implement and update as needed, internal policies and procedures and maintain all legal requirements related to service delivery, case acceptance and case referral process.

           With the assistance of the managing attorney and staff attorneys, regularly monitor changes in immigration law, regulations, policy and practice, and communicate and provide guidance to all staff on same.


    Networking & Inter-Agency Relationships

           Primary representative of LIIC at community events.

           Identify and network with peer agencies in the community to expand clinic reach and to advertise LIIC services.


    Professional Development

           Attends webinars and trainings in immigration policies and laws to assure clinic compliance with latest directives


    Other Administrative Duties

           Oversight of LIIC website and approves all information to be placed on website and newsletter content, working collaboratively with CSJ Communication Director.

           Oversight of maintenance, technology and housekeeping needs of the clinic; working collaboratively and communicating with Maintenance, Technology and Housekeeping Departments as needs arise to ensure for the cleanliness, safety and smooth operation of the clinic.
