Position Title: Ichabod Shop Seasonal Cashier (FWS)

Position Summary:

This position works as a cashier during high traffic periods such as back to school rush, buyback week, and other events throughout the school year. The primary duties of this position are providing customer service and running a cash register. Other duties may include restocking, merchandising, cleaning, straightening, order fulfillment or assisting customers on the sales floor.

AVAILABILLTY REQUIREMENTS:
-Must be able to start work the last week of July or beginning of August, weekends, evenings, and finals week.
PREFERRED AVAILABILITY:
-Family Day weekend, Homecoming, and Kansas Book Festival weekend.

Essential Functions:
-Customer service: Includes greeting customers, assisting customers with finding merchandise, answering customer questions, both instore and phone calls, and directing/transferring customers to appropriate staff members if answers are unknown.
-Cash Register and Proper Cash Handling: Responsibilities include ringing up customers at the cash register on a daily basis. Will also operate different types of cash registers with limited supervision or assistance when at the store or at events. Will use proper cash handling procedures at all times, including counting back change to customers, checking bills larger than $20 with counterfeit pen, checking for proper ID when accepting checks and understand credit card policies.
-Ichabod Shop responsibilities include, arriving on time, greeting customers, knowledge of bookstore merchandise and departments, ability to assist customers, and find appropriate textbooks for their courses. Adhere to the Ichabod Shop dress code.
-Perform additional job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
-Must be a student currently enrolled at Washburn University.
-Understanding of US currency and counting cash.
-Ability to communicate with customers.

Physical Requirements:
-Must be able to move a minimum of 25 lbs.
-Ability to stand for long periods.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Three months of retail experience, and cash register experience.
