    1.0 POSITION SUMMARY: Hydrovac Swamper
    Job Summary: Hydrovac swamper is responsible for providing support to the
    hydrovac operator by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the hydrovac
    truck during excavation projects. They assist in setting up, operating, and
    maintaining equipment while following safety protocols and environmental
    guidelines.
    2.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    2.1. The Hydrovac Swamper reports to the project manager/ foreman.
    2.2. The Foreman supervises the Hydrovac Operator and crew.

    3.0 REQUIREMENTS
    3.1. Education
    3.1.1. Required: GED
    3.1.2. Preferred: High school/college
    3.2. Experience
    3.2.1. Required: 1 years
    3.2.2. Preferred: 3 years


    1. Previous experience operating hydrovac equipment is preferred but not always
    required, as some employers offer on-the-job training.
    2. Knowledge of excavation and utility locating techniques.
    3 Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

    6. A strong commitment to safety and following established safety protocols.
    7. Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

     High school diploma or equivalent.
     Previous experience in construction, excavation, or a related field is preferred.

    4.0 WORKING CONDITIONS
    4.1. Climate: This is an outdoor working condition.
    4.2. Travel: day travel may be required.
    4.3. Hours: Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday.
    5.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    1. Equipment Setup: Assist in setting up and preparing the hydrovac truck for
    operation, including connecting hoses, inspecting equipment, and ensuring that
    all safety measures are in place.

    2. Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to
    prevent accidents and injuries. This includes wearing appropriate personal
    protective equipment (PPE) and following safety procedures during excavation
    operations.
    3. Site Preparation: Prepare the excavation site by marking out the digging area,
    setting up barriers or cones for safety, and ensuring there are no underground
    utilities or obstacles that could interfere with the operation.
    4. Operational Support: Assist the hydrovac operator in controlling the hydrovac
    system, including operating the high-pressure water system and vacuum
    system. This may involve handling the water and vacuum hoses.
    5. Soil Removal: Help guide the hydrovac wand or nozzle to accurately excavate
    and remove soil or debris from the designated area. Monitor the process to
    prevent damage to underground utilities or structures.
    6. Dumping and Disposal: Assist in transporting the excavated material to the
    designated disposal site, which may involve loading it onto a dump truck or into
    a container.
    7. Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on the hydrovac equipment,
    such as cleaning filters, hoses, and nozzles, and reporting any issues or
    malfunctions to the operator or maintenance personnel.
    8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including
    excavation depths, locations, and the quantity of material removed.
    9. Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all environmental regulations and
    guidelines are followed during excavation operations, particularly when dealing
    with hazardous materials or sensitive areas.
    10. Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with the hydrovac operator and other team
    members to achieve project goals and complete tasks efficiently.
