    Description

We are sharing a specialised full-time opportunity for senior private equity and venture capital professionals with deep investment experience and the ability to evaluate, structure, and improve advanced AI systems working on complex financial and investment tasks.

This role works closely with AI research and programme teams to improve how advanced models reason about professional investment work. Selected experts will review finance tasks and model outputs, develop instruction specifications and reference solutions, design challenging investment benchmarks, and translate senior-level investment judgement into clear, reproducible evaluation standards.

    Key Responsibilities

Private Equity & Venture Capital Evaluation

    • Review AI-generated work involving private equity, venture capital, investment analysis, and transaction decision-making
    • Assess investment reasoning, assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions for professional accuracy
    • Identify flawed assumptions, incomplete analyses, weak investment logic, and superficially plausible outputs
    • Evaluate whether analyses would withstand professional investment-committee or deal-team scrutiny
    • Provide precise written feedback explaining analytical deficiencies and required improvements

    Investment Analysis & Due Diligence

    • Apply expertise in company evaluation, market analysis, financial modelling, valuation, and investment underwriting
    • Assess commercial, financial, operational, and strategic due diligence frameworks
    • Evaluate assumptions involving growth, margins, capital requirements, competitive positioning, and exit potential
    • Review investment cases for internal consistency, commercial realism, and appropriate risk assessment
    • Identify information gaps or analytical weaknesses that could materially affect an investment decision

    Valuation & Transaction Analysis

    • Evaluate valuation methodologies including DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, and relevant investment-specific approaches
    • Review transaction structures, financing assumptions, ownership economics, and return calculations
    • Assess investment models involving IRR, MOIC, leverage, dilution, exit scenarios, and sensitivity analysis
    • Evaluate deal economics across private equity and venture capital scenarios
    • Identify unrealistic assumptions or methodological errors affecting investment conclusions

    Instruction Design & Reference Solutions

    • Develop detailed instruction specifications for investment-related AI tasks
    • Produce high-quality reference solutions demonstrating professional investment standards
    • Define what constitutes a complete and technically rigorous response to complex financial problems
    • Translate practical investment judgement into explicit and reproducible evaluation criteria
    • Develop tasks reflecting authentic private-market investment workflows

    Benchmark & Evaluation Development

    • Design challenging benchmarks covering investment analysis and decision-making
    • Create evaluation sets testing valuation, underwriting, financial reasoning, market analysis, and professional judgement
    • Develop criteria distinguishing rigorous investment work from plausible but incomplete analysis
    • Refine benchmarks based on model performance and research requirements
    • Help improve finance-specific reasoning and evaluation capabilities

    AI Research Collaboration & Calibration

    • Collaborate with AI researchers, programme teams, and specialists across adjacent domains
    • Participate in calibration sessions to maintain consistent evaluation standards
    • Apply hands-on experience with large language models to professional investment workflows
    • Distinguish genuinely well-reasoned analysis from confident but technically incorrect outputs
    • Communicate complex investment concepts clearly to technical and non-finance stakeholders

    Ideal Profile

    • 5+ years of substantive professional finance and investment experience
    • Strong professional background in private equity, venture capital, growth equity, private credit, investment banking, asset management, or a closely related investment environment
    • Deep expertise in private-market investing, transaction analysis, valuation, financial modelling, or investment underwriting
    • Demonstrated progression to a senior individual-contributor or leadership position such as Vice President, Principal, Director, Managing Director, Partner, Portfolio Manager, or comparable level
    • Direct ownership of significant investment analyses, transactions, portfolio decisions, or investment-committee recommendations
    • Strong understanding of due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring, investment returns, and risk assessment
    • Hands-on professional experience using large language models or AI tools
    • Strong ability to distinguish rigorous financial reasoning from plausible but technically incorrect analysis
    • Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
    • Advanced degree such as an MBA, MS, or PhD in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a quantitative discipline is strongly preferred
    • Professional credentials such as CFA, CPA, FRM, or comparable qualifications are highly valued
    • Must live in the San Francisco Bay Area or be willing to relocate there before the engagement begins
    • Must be able to work onsite with the assigned team multiple days per week when required

    Engagement Details

    • Candidates outside the Bay Area must be willing to relocate at their own expense before starting

    • Compensation: $100–$140/hour
    • Client-issued accounts and equipment will be provided as required
    • Work will be conducted within assigned internal tools and workflows
