Summary/Objective
The Hybrid Pharmacist role encompasses clinical and retail responsibilities within the Pharmacy department. Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Hybrid Pharmacist will oversee specialty medication orders for patients and monitor the dispensing of medications. The Hybrid Pharmacist will also work in the retail setting of the Pharmacy, performing all essential functions of a Pharmacist at NorthShore.
Essential Functions
Clinical Pharmacist Core Responsibilities:
Collaborate with NorthShore Health Center's Director of Quality Improvement & the Quality department for various projects which improve patient care and satisfaction
Monitor medication compliance, inventory, and cost control, reporting those to the Director of Pharmacy
Preparation and coordination of specialty prescriptions as ordered, executing orders in preparation for Retail Pharmacist distribution
Connect with patients for newly prescribed therapies and/or prescriptions
Performs Medication Therapy Management (MTM)
Retail Pharmacist Core Responsibilities:
Preparation and dispensing of prescriptions as ordered
Provide counselling and education to patients on prescriptions as needed/requested
Supervision and guidance to Pharmacy Technicians as necessary
Maintaining established workflows within the Pharmacy
Collaborates with Providers on prescription management as necessary
Connects with patient insurances, addressing and fulfilling insurance inquiries and/or prior authorizations
Champions maintenance and inventory process of controlled substances within clinic
Fulfills end-of-day Pharmacy procedures such as, but not limited to:
Medication storage
Cash-handling
Attend departmental/organizational meetings as required
Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, and/or Director of Pharmacy

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare personnel. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
Travel
Travel outside of Northshore locations will be rare for this position. Travel within Northshore locations will be occasional for this position.
Required Role Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Indiana
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within two (2) weeks of hire
