    Description

    Providence is seeking a full-time Pediatric Endocrinologist to diagnose, treat, and manage infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with endocrine and metabolic disorders in Anchorage, Alaska. This position will provide comprehensive care for conditions affecting growth, puberty, diabetes, thyroid function, adrenal disorders, bone health, obesity, and other hormonal abnormalities. The Pediatric Endocrinologist works collaboratively with primary care providers, subspecialists, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage pediatric patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders
    • Provide outpatient and inpatient consultations and follow-up care
    • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices
    • Manage patients with conditions including: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus, growth disorders and short stature, thyroid diseases, pubertal and reproductive endocrine disorders, adrenal and pituitary disorders, obesity and metabolic syndrome, calcium, vitamin D, and bone disorders, and disorders of sexual development
    • Interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and specialized endocrine testing
    • Prescribe and monitor medications and hormone therapies
    • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and disease management
    • Promote healthy lifestyle interventions and preventive care
    • Support patient self-management and adherence to treatment plans
    • Collaborate with pediatricians, family medicine physicians, dietitians, social workers, and other specialists
    • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and care conferences
    • Coordinate transitions of care from pediatric to adult endocrinology services when appropriate

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Strong clinical expertise in pediatric endocrine disorders
    • Excellent diagnostic and analytical skills

    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

    • Cultural competence and sensitivity when caring for diverse populations

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
    • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency Program
    • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship
    • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology
    • Unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in Alaska
    • Current DEA registration (or eligibility)
