Job Description

We are seeking a HVAC Specialist Senior to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in journey-level HVAC installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and energy management systems and a proven ability to lead technicians, optimize central plant operations, and deliver safe, code-compliant solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Provide lead oversight for HVAC Specialists and workers for building and plant maintenance.
• Perform journey-level installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment and systems.
• Participate in design and planning for new equipment and system installations, including specifications and diagrams.
• Operate and adjust a centralized, computerized energy management system; modify software parameters and install related hardware.
• Ensure optimal central plant staging and operation for equipment longevity and energy performance.
• Maintain CMMS schedules and service logs for HVAC equipment.
• Provide technical support for complex diagnostics and repairs on HVAC and energy management systems.
• Support HVAC system upgrades, replacements, and add-ons.
• Research and recommend equipment sized to site needs and existing conditions.
• Train HVAC Specialists on central plant operations, chillers, controls, monitoring software, and tools.
• Troubleshoot live high-voltage control circuits on chillers and AC systems integrated with BMS; repair or replace components.
• Use tools and testing devices to diagnose issues with HVAC equipment, control boards, and software.
• Prepare, cut, thread, ream, bend, and join tubing and pipe; perform welding and brazing as required.
• Conduct field work including confined space and crawl space tasks following safety procedures.
• Perform general electrical repairs related to HVAC equipment and controls.
• Install and adjust switches, gauges, pneumatic thermostats, valves, and controllers.
• Lubricate, clean, and adjust equipment; change filters, clean strainers, descale tubing, and service compressors.
• Replace and repair compressors, motors, fans, valves, thermometers, and belts.
• Inspect systems for leaks, abnormal noise, and electrical defects; review tests and determine repairs.
• Install HVAC equipment including ducts, evaporative coolers, diffusers, condensers, and controls.
• Maintain and repair air handlers, pumps, and related equipment.
• Assist and oversee construction projects impacting HVAC systems.
• Perform and oversee preventive maintenance programs.
• Respond to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns.
• Interpret diagrams, blueprints, layouts, work orders, and specifications to install and test systems.
• Plan and estimate project costs; coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to requisition materials and supplies.
• Adhere to applicable HVAC codes and standards for installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
• Report technical issues to the supervisor and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Universal Certification or EPA 608 Certification or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of HVAC experience in installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems and energy management systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications and to perform safe electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of VAS/BMS systems such as Metasys or equivalent.
• Experience with central plant operations, chillers, and advanced controls.
