HVAC Specialist Senior (HVAC Technician)

Job Summary: Glendale Community College is seeking an experienced HVAC Specialist Senior to lead and perform the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and energy management systems. The ideal candidate will provide technical guidance to HVAC staff, oversee preventive maintenance programs, support central plant operations, and ensure efficient performance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support HVAC technicians in daily operations and maintenance activities.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, chillers, air handlers, pumps, and related equipment.
- Operate and maintain computerized Energy Management Systems (EMS/BMS).
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, high-voltage circuits, and automated HVAC systems.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and equipment layouts for installations and upgrades.
- Monitor equipment performance and maintain maintenance records.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for HVAC projects and equipment purchases.
- Ensure compliance with HVAC codes, safety standards, and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Universal EPA 608 Certification (or equivalent).
- 3-5+ years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, and energy management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with BAS/BMS platforms such as Metasys or equivalent systems.
- Experience working with central plants, chillers, and sophisticated HVAC controls.
