    Description

    HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN
    Gonzales, LA

If you're a proven HVAC seller who wants to be paid for the whole job, not just the lead, this role is built for you. Our client, a growing, family-owned residential HVAC company (not private-equity-backed), pays 20% commission when you sell the work and perform it yourself, including your own equipment sales. There's a guaranteed hourly floor behind it, a capped daily call load, and a clear path to dispatching from home once you've shown you can run your own board.

    THE BASICS
    Location: Gonzales, LA
Pay: 100% commission with a guaranteed $20/hr minimum on weeks the company doesn't supply enough leads. You earn 20% on work you sell and perform yourself (10% for the sale plus 10% for the work), and 2–4% on jobs you turn over to the sales team. [Expected earnings range: TBD]
Service Area: About a 15-mile radius from the shop
Schedule: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch as the baseline. Realistically, it's 7 a.m.–6 p.m. during the busy season (roughly March through December), with a slower pace from January to early March. Expect 4–5 scheduled calls per day, with 4 as the target on a regular day.
On-Call: One week per month, Friday to Friday. There's no new dispatch after 8 p.m. on weeknights except true emergencies. Weekend on-call hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, capped at 4 calls per day. The rotation moves to a primary-plus-backup model as the team grows.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Diagnose, repair, install, and sell residential HVAC systems and services. This is a full hybrid role, not just working tickets a salesperson hands you.
    • Run 4–5 service calls a day within the service area
    • Present repair and replacement options to homeowners clearly and honestly, following the company's sales process
    • Close and install your own equipment sales, or turn leads over to the sales team when that's the better fit
    • Complete all sales and service paperwork correctly and promptly
    • Attend the 7 a.m. daily huddle at the shop until you've earned home dispatch. Once you're consistently hitting your KPIs, you'll dispatch from home and come in just 1–2 times a week.
    • Take your turn in the on-call rotation
    • Deliver a customer experience that earns trust and referrals

WHY SERVICE TECHNICIANS LIKE WORKING HERE

    • Family-owned, not private-equity backed
    • 20% commission when you sell and perform the work, including equipment you sell and install yourself
    • Turnover commission (2–4%) on leads you generate for the sales team, so you still get paid when you hand a lead off
    • $20/hr guaranteed minimum if lead flow falls short, which means you're protected when the company doesn't hold up its end
    • 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision for employees, with spouse and dependents available at your own cost
    • PTO that starts after 90 days and grows with tenure
    • Take-home company vehicle for techs who live within about 30–45 minutes of the shop
    • Earned independence: hit your numbers and you dispatch from home
    • A capped call load, so you can do each job right instead of rushing
    • On-call only one week a month, with no new weeknight dispatch after 8 p.m. except emergencies
    • Uniforms and basic tools provided, with tools that break from normal work use repaired or replaced
    • Optional company tablet
    • Leadership that's been in the trade for decades and is still learning alongside the team

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    Required:

    • Proven residential HVAC sales track record. This is the top priority: the company can teach its process and technical skills, but it can't teach sales.
    • 2–5 years at a larger HVAC company with established processes
    • Documented sales performance, such as "$1M tech" or "$2M tech" recognition or production reports
    • Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and Louisiana heat
    • Coachable team player who's good with customers and open to learning. Know-it-alls need not apply.
    • Your own basic hand tools, if you're coming from a technical background
    • Must live within or near the service area
    • Able to work the standard schedule and on-call rotation above
    • Able to pass a background check, driving record check (MVR), and drug screen. This is a zero-tolerance policy, including marijuana during off hours.

    Nice to Have (not required):

    • Comfort Advisor or sales tech title at a larger company with formal sales processes
    • Hands-on HVAC diagnostic and repair experience
    • Military background
    • Prior outdoor or physically demanding work, such as lawn care or landscaping
