Job Summary
This is where solid HVAC careers get built. As an HVAC Service Technician Apprentice at MTech Mechanical, you’ll work alongside experienced Journeyman technicians while learning how to diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC/R systems. You won’t be thrown into the deep end—but you also won’t be stuck holding tools forever.
This role is designed for motivated individuals who want hands-on experience, structured learning, and a clear path to becoming a Journeyman HVAC Service Technician.
Essential Job Function: (With support, supervision, and increasing independence over time) - Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC/R systems
- Learn to service systems up to 100 tons cooling capacity and large commercial heating equipment
- Support preventative maintenance, seasonal startups, and system inspections
- Read and interpret basic drawings, schematics, and manufacturer documentation
- Learn proper documentation using MSI & Keystyle at the job site
- Follow safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company procedures
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company-provided vehicles responsibly
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal team members
- Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and skills development
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position
- Other duties as assigned
As skills and experience grow, responsibilities will increase accordingly.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required
- HVAC/R certificate, trade school, or enrolled in an apprenticeship program preferred
- 0–4 years of HVAC or related mechanical experience
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take feedback like a pro
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to meet MTech’s driving standards
- Comfortable working on-call rotation as skills progress
- Interest in growing toward Journeyman licensure (F29/F31 or equivalent)

Physical Requirements:
This position is a field base position. Due to the nature of the position, team members may be exposed to working outside and exposed to different weather elements, including cold and hot temperatures. They may also be required to work at heights in this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: - Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and 75+ pounds occasionally
- Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment up to 50 pounds regularly and 75+ pounds occasionally to complete assigned job tasks
- Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Be able to reach overhead, including working with tools overhead
- Be able to work a full range of physical activity in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, kneeling and squatting, climbing, walking for extended periods of time.
- Use hands and arms to:
- Thread, cut, weld, braze, solder, and assemble pipe and duct work
- Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other equipment
- Capable of hearing at a level or correctable to a level where the person is able to receive detailed information through verbal communication. Must be able to detect alarms and equipment sounds
- Vision must also be at a level or correctable level where the person has clarity both in short and long-distance vision
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Handle heavy pipe, fittings, valves, tools, duct, hangers, and equipment
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs regularly
- Work and walking on uneven surfaces, elevated platforms, and confined areas at times
