We're recruiting for a growing, family-owned HVAC company in the Edison, NJ area seeking a hands-on HVAC Service Manager who knows what it takes to build a strong team, deliver exceptional service, and drive department performance.
This isn't a position for someone who wants to manage strictly from behind a desk. We're looking for a respected HVAC leader who can roll up their sleeves, support technicians with challenging diagnostics, and help take an established service team to the next level.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of residential HVAC Service Technicians.
- Provide hands-on technical support for complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Oversee daily service operations and coordinate with dispatch to maximize efficiency.
- Conduct field visits, ride-alongs, and technician training to improve performance.
- Monitor productivity, callbacks, workmanship quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Establish accountability while building a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Resolve escalated service issues and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Partner with leadership to improve department processes, efficiency, and profitability.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and developing new technicians.
- Ensure compliance with HVAC codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of hands-on HVAC service experience preferred.
- Previous HVAC leadership, supervisory, or management experience required.
- Strong residential HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostic expertise.
- Extensive knowledge of furnaces, central A/C systems, heat pumps, boilers, and mini-splits.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop service technicians.
- Experience overseeing daily service operations and technician performance.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead by example while holding team members accountable.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- EPA 608 Certification preferred.
- Experience with ServiceTitan or similar service management software is a plus.
