    Responsibilities

    This role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of The Ringlings HVAC and chilled water loop systems.

    • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, maintains, and repairs HVAC equipment.
    • Monitors operation of computerized heating ventilation and air conditioning system (Chilled Water Plant).
    • Maintains appropriate operational logs. Makes appropriate system adjustments to maintain consistent system production and efficient energy consumption. May make emergency decisions affecting system operation and/or shutdown.
    • Troubleshoots and identifies chilled water pipe problems.
    • Performs installs of new or repairs heating and/or air conditioning equipment, including compressors, condensers, and pumps. Recharges air conditioner units with refrigerant as needed.
    • Inspects and maintains low pressure gas fired boilers.
    • Generates and responds to emails and work orders via online work order system. Updates work order system once per day regarding progress and/or upon completion of assignment.
    • Assists the Maintenance Supervisor in monitoring work orders and overseeing daily work projects assigned to the team. Works to ensure project quality, identifies deficiencies and reports to supervisor. Uses motorized vehicles to travel campus.
    • Assists with emergency and or special Facilities maintenance projects, as assigned, that support museum operations and provides general assistance for the Facilities department.

    This position serves as lead worker for the Ringling Facilities Building Maintenance Team and, in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, ensures assignments are carried out by staff.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma and two years experience; or a relevant Technical or vocational degree may substitute for experience.
    • Valid Florida drivers license or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in small spaces/heights.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience with computerized heating ventilation and air conditioning systems and low pressure gas fired boilers.
    • Knowledge of and ability to:
    • Safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials.
    • Perform skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other related trades work.
    • Use a computer-based work order system (FacilityDude).

    Considerations

    • This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
    • This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
    • Employees are required to wear the standard issue uniform while at work.
    • This role is designated as essential and may be required to work before, during, or after an emergency museum closure.
    • Remains on-call during designated periods outside normal working hours, as needed, to monitor and remotely make necessary adjustments for the chiller plant. While on-call, the incumbent may be required to return to the work site to respond to maintenance emergencies.

    Working Hours

    While the primary working hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with a half hour for lunch, the incumbent may be required to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or special events.
