HVAC-R Technicians

HVAC-R Technicians are responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems. Their duties include:

• Repairing, maintaining, and installing HVAC-R equipment and systems • Inspecting equipment maintenance risks • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults • Adjusting and cleaning systems • Carrying out warranty services • Maintaining accurate maintenance records • Assisting with customer inquiries • Providing technical directions • Mentoring junior technicians • Ensuring work complies with service, appliance, and safety standards

Your Impact

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.

Performing Preventative Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, and Installation

Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and installation of refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation and plumbing applications.

Installing, Maintaining, and Repairing Mechanical Equipment

Install, maintain, and repair package units, split systems, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.

Installing, Repairing, and Maintaining Light Commercial Rooftop Units

Install, repair, and maintain light commercial rooftop units, boilers, controls, and other mechanical equipment.

Conducting Brazing, Soldering, Welding, Pipefitting, and Fabrication

Conduct brazing, soldering, welding, pipefitting, and fabrication.

Interpreting Complex Blueprints and Schematics

Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Inspecting, Troubleshooting, and Servicing Motors and Equipment

Inspect, troubleshoot, and service motors, pumps, compressors, ducts, and controls.

Ensuring Compliance with Safety Guidelines

Ensure compliance with company safety guidelines and training requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience • HVAC Universal Certification required • Valid Driver's License • 3 years of related HVAC, VRF systems and Electrical maintenance and repair experience in a commercial facility • Ability to obtain airport security clearance • Availability to work day or night shift, including weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in airport operations Understanding of Johnson Control Systems Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics Basic proficiency with computers and common software applications

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of HVAC Technician, the employee is regularly required to:

• Stand • Walk • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel • Reach with hands and arms • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl • Talk or hear • Frequently climb or balance and work in small spaces • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds • Work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems • Possess good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus • Possess good hand / eye coordination

Work Environment

The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to:

• Moving mechanical parts • High, precarious places • Outside weather conditions • Fumes or airborne particles • Toxic or caustic chemicals • Cold • Vibration • Loud noise level • Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment
