A day in the life

Based in Buffalo, NY, you start your morning reviewing scheduled service calls and installation projects. First up might be a downed walk-in cooler where you methodically isolate faults, swap components, and get the customer back online with minimal downtime. Midday, you pivot to a preventative maintenance route—verifying pressures and temperatures, inspecting electrical connections, calibrating controls, and documenting findings. In the afternoon, you collaborate with teammates on a planned equipment install, wrap up detailed service notes, and speak with clients about system performance and recommendations. Throughout, you’re the steady hand customers rely on—organized, safety-minded, and clear in your communication.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues; perform timely repairs to limit customer disruption.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to boost reliability and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and fellow technicians to complete work orders and projects on schedule.
  • Capture accurate service notes, parts used, and repair history.
  • Deliver professional, customer-centered communication on-site and after service.
  • Keep current with new refrigeration technologies, tools, and best practices.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in refrigeration is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience as a refrigeration technician or closely related role.
  • Solid grasp of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and HVAC fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting approach and meticulous attention to detail.
